Derek Jeter hit a home run when he sold his Tampa, Florida, mansion for $22.5 million after nearly eight months on the market.
Originally listed at $29 million, the home sale is the largest ever in the Tampa Bay region, according to listing agents Stephen Gay and Katie Glaser of Smith & Associates Real Estate.
The custom-designed private estate, located in the upscale Davis Islands community, is also the island’s largest waterfront property. Additionally, it is the largest home ever sold in South Tampa in terms of square footage, measuring just under 22,000 square feet and overlooking 345 feet of open bay.
The home is a whopping 22,000 square feet in size.
The 46-year-old former Yankee and Hall of Famer first listed the estate in September, following Brady’s departure.
Shortly after signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jeter leased the home to the seven-time Super Bowl champion and his wife, Gisele Bündchen.
“The Tampa Bay region had been quietly establishing itself as a premier city known for its high quality of life and fun-in-the-sun lifestyle, and then the Super Bowl arrived, and the secret was revealed,” Gay explained. “A residence such as Jeter’s demonstrates the evolution of what is possible and what is to come as Tampa continues to attract attention and luxury buyers.”
Additionally, the burgeoning Tampa area, which Smith & Associates reports is the fourth largest metropolitan area in terms of new residents, drew a buyer.
“Our neighborhood is ablaze, and people from all over the world are taking notice. Our brokerage has sold some of the region’s largest homes at record-breaking prices, and the year is only halfway over,” Smith & Associates president Bob Glaser said. “New developments such as Tampa Edition, the city’s first five-star hotel, and its residences are part of the larger story of Tampa’s influx of luxury buyers. This is an ideal location for a second home or to relocate and enjoy Tampa Bay’s outdoor lifestyle.”
The home, which measures a whopping 21,796 square feet, features seven bedrooms and sixteen bathrooms (eight full and eight half-baths).
The home features a wine cellar, an in-home movie theater, a professional gym, an in-law suite, an au-pair wing with a living area and kitchenette, an outdoor kitchen and grilling area, and an air-conditioned garage large enough to fit six cars.
Additionally, the estate includes an expansive club room with a full-service bar, billiards and game tables, multiple televisions, and a sitting area.
A dock with two boat lifts, a heated spa, and an 80-foot saltwater lap pool are included in the outdoor amenities.
