Who Was Hadis Najafi? During protests, an Iranian woman was shot to death.
Hadis Najafi, who was 20 years old, was shot and killed by Iranian security forces when protests broke out over the death of Mahsa Amini, who had been arrested by the morality police and later died. When security forces killed Najafi during the protests, it caused a lot of anger.
Mahsa Amini died while being held by the morality police because she wasn’t wearing her hijab the “right” way. Women cut off their hair and burned hijabs in the streets to protest her death.
Iran’s state media say that since the protests started, at least 41 people, including police officers and security forces, have been killed. Human rights groups say that the real number of people who have died is much higher than 41. Hadis Najari was one of the people who died when Iran’s security forces started shooting with real bullets.
Live ammunition is being used and the internet is being shut down to stop the protests. Netblocks, a group that keeps an eye on the internet, said that problems had been found in mobile networks and that access to social media platforms had been blocked.
Officials say that Iran has arrested more than 1,200 people, including journalists and activists, who were protesting.
Who Was Hadis Najafi?
Hadis Najafi went out into the streets to protest Iran’s strict hijab laws. She was shot several times and died as a result.
She was shot in the chest, face, and neck, supposedly by security officials who didn’t care where they hit her.
Masih Alinejad, an Iranian journalist and activist, posted a video of Najafi’s funeral and said that she was a kind girl who loved to dance.
Najafi’s sister told Alinejad, “She was only 20 years old. Mahsa Amini broke her heart so much that it hurt. She said that she wouldn’t be quiet. They shot her six times and killed her.”
The late Najafi was a well-known person on Instagram and TikTok, two social media sites. A video of Najafi putting her hair in a ponytail and getting ready to join a protest went viral.
Even though police and security forces cracked down on protests in Iran, they kept happening. Reports say that security forces have opened fire on protesters more than once. One of the people who were killed in the crackdown was Najafi.
Najafi was reportedly taken to Ghaem Hospital, where she was declared dead. Medical records that had been broken into showed that the 20-year-old died from brain swelling.
